How much of the money donated through your fund raising activities goes to the beneficiaries?
Begining in year 2007, 80% of all net funds raised through fund raising activities will go direct to social services programs. These will be administered by 3 independent trustees. The remaining 20% goes to the payment of fixed administrative cost such as rent and utilities
How are the funds used?
Funds raised goes towards the funding of social service programs to reach out the youths who will need help.Typically, the services offered by the centre are free, the most expensive program being charged at S$2 per student per session paid by the school.
SAC doesn't look very well renovated and when I call, sometimes no one answers? Why?
SAC does not mistake form for substance. Many agencies are too well renovated with non-social work related overheads to maximize the donations for the benefit of our clients. Beneficiaries really don’t benefit from the fact that the office has a
printed envelope and a carpeted walkway.
To maximize the benefits of all donors money, the centre reduces it’s manpower overheads to the bare minimum. This allows us to focus the charity dollars on it's purpose, programs for the needy. Assuming the charity raises S$200k a year, employing three staff at say S$40k/annum each and paying other fixed cost, leaves very little left for the beneficiaries. This is why SAC engages no fixed overheads for phone receptionist, fancy brochures and uses used furniture ( almost all inventories in the centre are hand me downs)
Does this affect the quality of Services provided?
The lack of administrative overheads actually gives us more resources to engage in social programs with the aid of highly qualified social workers, needed materials and other forms of assistance. This has helped allow the centre to provide a high level of direct service to it’s beneficiaries.
I'm from the school administration, I need some assistance for my students. Can SAC help?
SAC offers a consultancy approach to reach out to youths at risk. Partnering with schools to help the youths is one of the ways, so long as it tallies with our social mission. Our group of volunteer trustees meet periodically, review the new programs proposed to targeted group of youths, and releases the resources necessary to help the students. Please drop a email to our centre and we can meet up with you to see how SAC can help your students.
How do I apply for the lunchbox fund?
