OUR PROGRAMS


Feeding The Children


Lunchbox Fund
The Lunch Box fund is the cash gift of the centre to children from poor and needy families.

Primary School students are provided S$1 a day and Secondary school students at S$1.50 a day.

Once the funds are available, the centre generally sponsors the children for one entire academic year.

S$50,000 was given away to 246 children in April 2008 this year for their lunches this year.

Another S$50,000 is being raised to be given away by July 2008 this year.

Keeping Them In School

Alpha Program ( formerly known as Recharge Program)
The alpha program is an intensive time out course tailored for youths with a high level of truancy and likely to drop out of school.

The program covers issues such as motivation, study skills, time management, industrial visits and
so on.

The program is likely to reach out to 100 students in year 2009.

Correcting Undesireable Behaviours

EQ Champs
Through EQ champs, students with delinquent behavior have a better understanding of cause and consequences, learn to manage their anger, and develop socially desirable behaviors.

This a extended program lasting approximately 4 months, with our social workers visiting the students once a week.

The program is likely to reach out to 111 students in year 2009.


Helping students with low self esteem or bullied

Smiles Program
Through the smiles program, students who are socially withdrawn, have been victims of bullying or find difficulty in communicating with people are helped.

An extended program lasting approximately 4 months, our social workers visit these students weekly, providing guidance and conducting interactive games aimed at developing the students self confidence and communications skills.

The program is likely to reach out to 210 students in year 2009.

Helping students lacking the skills and motivation to study effectively

Study Champs Program
Targeted for students lacking the skills and motivation to study effectively, this program aims to encourage creative thinking, shares effective learning strategies and encourages writing.

This a extended program lasting approximately 4 months, with our social workers visiting the students once a week.

The program is likely to reach out to 828 students in year 2009.

Providing children from the nearby one-room rental apartments a place to hang out

Drop-in Program
The student advisory Centre is located within a 3 minutes walk from a cluster of 1 and 2 room rental apartments.

Resided by families who are generally on the lower income scale, the centre provides an activity area for the students to do their homework or simply relax and have some activities.

To cater to them, the centre constantly sources for games and activities to engage them. We currently have a pool table, internet stations, guitar and some musical instruments to engage them.

After school care program

G.E.T (Games, Enrichment, Tuition)
Targeted for students whose parents are working long hours and are unable to be there for them after school, the centre engages these young people after school hours.

This program usually last for 4 months, with the frequency and intensity varying based on the students needs.
